Yes, they drive on the wrong side of the road! They also have this car called a ute which is a cross between a car and a truck. A lot of tradespeople use it with ladders on top. They also have some sportier versions.
I got to see a wallaby but I didn't get to see a kangaroo. I also missed out on the koala - maybe next time.
I started watching 'The Long Way Round' and 'The Long Way Down'. I don't think I'm going to be able to wait for a sabbatical year to do a motorbike tour of North America. I think I'm going to have to start with Canada this summer. If you wanna join my motorcycle gang, initiations will take place the first week of June and the cross country tour will go through June and July. Nominations for the name are currently being accepted. :)
|Yay!!! I finally made it to Australia!
I did not know that penguins had a natural habitat on the beach in Australia. They come in at sunset to avoid the birds of prey and there is a protected viewing area set up with minimal lighting. Pictures are no longer allowed because too many flashes go off accidentally. I did manage some illegal photos but they didn't turn out all that well.
I think the Aussies get the prize for cheekiness. They have the most interesting shop names and signs (one is below).
On another topic, the trail head sign below gave me the best laugh of the trip. Phil and Lisa weren't up for a big hike which I knew so I neglected to mention that the trail we'd be taking was 12km long! They got me back though when they let me accidentally go down the shorter trail without telling me and
