So I finally made it to Israel. Emily and I went with some of her friends and we saw a lot. Two of the more meaninful places for me were the Western wall and the garden tomb. Praying at the western wall is one of the things I've wanted to do for a long time and I really enjoyed my prayer time there. The garden tomb was a beautiful place and it was great to be around so many people from around the world. It doesn't really matter whether they have the locations right or not, there is something about the spirit of the place that is very touching. The Dome of the Rock was disapointing however it was cool to see the Muslim children playing outside of it and having picnics while their fathers prayed. I

think they should really open it up as a spiritual place for everyone to enjoy.
Jordan was a big surprise. Our hotel by the Dead Sea was fabulous and I loved walking through the canyon before getting the the Treasury at Petra. Mt. Nebo was another highlight as well as going to the Jordan River. There is a point where the border between Israel and Jordan is the Jordan River and they had guards on both sides while tourists approached the river from both countries on opposite sides. Our taxi driver was Palestinian and it was interesting to hear his story that he will never be considered fully Jordanian. He and his children will always be considered Palestinian even though they are citizens of Jordan.
